Running a dog field shouldn't mean living at the gate.

Most field owners we speak to are doing everything by hand. The phone goes when you're eating, you're driving down at 7am to unlock for someone, and half the time the padlock code's been passed around the whole village so people are using the field for free. Then someone doesn't turn up and you've lost the slot.

    Customers pick a slot on your booking page and pay by card. No cash, no bank transfers, and nobody calling you.

    A unique code arrives by email straight away. It only works for their slot.

  3. They let themselves in.

    They turn up, enter the code, and enjoy the field. When the slot ends, the code stops working.

A lock that doesn't need Wi-Fi, signal, or an electrician

Most smart locks need Wi-Fi or a hub at the gate, which is a problem when your field is in the middle of nowhere. Ours doesn't. Every gate code is worked out from a secure key inside the lock itself, so nothing needs to be sent to the gate. If your field has no signal at all, it still works.

  • Set up and tested before it leaves us. We charge it, link it to your account, and test it with your booking system before we post it to you.

  • Fits like a padlock. Take your old padlock off, put this one on. That's the install.

  • Charge it about once a year. It's rechargeable by USB-C and lasts up to a year on a charge, depending on how busy your field is.

  • Built for a British winter. Fully waterproof, works down to -20°C, with a boron steel shackle that's rated to resist cutting and tampering.

  • Every code expires. Codes only work during the booked slot, so nobody can share them around.

  • Guessing doesn't work. The keypad locks itself after too many wrong codes.

  • You always have a way in. You keep a master code for yourself, and if the lock ever goes flat, a power bank plugged into the USB-C port brings it back to life at the gate.

Y Bark is a secure dog park run by Holyhead Town Council on Anglesey. Before, every booking meant someone at the council's cafe generating a gate code by hand and typing it into an email, and only during opening hours. If you fancied an early walk on Saturday and thought about it on Friday night, you had to wait until Monday. A lot of people didn't bother.

FAQs

What if there's no signal at my field?

It doesn't matter. The lock works everything out itself, so it doesn't need Wi-Fi or signal. Your customers only need signal when they book, which they'll usually do from home, and their code is already in their email before they set off.

What happens if the lock runs out of charge?

It lasts up to a year on a charge, and we'll remind you when it's due a top-up based on how many bookings you've had. If it ever goes flat, a power bank plugged into the USB-C port brings it back to life at the gate.

How does the lock get to me?

We buy the lock, charge it, set it up on your account, and test it with your booking system before it leaves us. Then we post it to you tracked and signed for, with a quick-start card in the box. Your master code comes separately by email.

Is it secure?

Yes. The shackle is boron steel and rated to CEN Grade 3, the keypad locks out anyone guessing codes, and the lock keeps a record of every time it's opened.

What if a customer can't get in?

Their code is in their email, and they can see it again on their booking. If something goes wrong, you can look up their code and send it to them, or let them in with your master code.

Do I need to be good with technology?

No. We set everything up for you. If you can fit a padlock and read an email, you're fine.

How long does it take to get going?

As little as a week from sign-up to your first booking.

Can I set my own prices and opening times?

Yes. You decide your slots, prices, and opening hours, and you can change them whenever you like.

How do I get paid?

Customers pay by card when they book, and the money goes straight to your bank account through Stripe.

What about cancellations and refunds?

You set your own cancellation policy and customers agree to it when they book. If you need to give a refund, you can issue it instantly through Stripe.

Will my regular customers cope with it?

Most people book everything online already. Your regulars can rebook their usual slot in a few taps.

Can I still take bookings over the phone?

Yes. Add the booking yourself from your dashboard and it creates the customer's gate code straight away. You can read it to them over the phone or email it to them.

Do I need a website?

No. We build you a dedicated booking page, like the one we built for Y Bark (opens in a new tab), that you can share on Facebook, Google, or anywhere else.
